The Dream 18: Best Myrtle Beach SC Golf Holes - GoToMyrtleBeach.com

Experience the best Myrtle Beach golf holes for yourself!

Dream18Logo-SquareThe Dream 18 is a long-standing tradition in Myrtle Beach golf. This dream course of the 18 best golf holes in Myrtle Beach is chosen every few years by a panel assembled by the area’s only daily newspaper.

On the panel are more than 20 prominent Myrtle Beach golf experts, a group of men and women who include touring pros, club pros, teaching pros, superintendents, college players, competing amateurs, golf writers, course owners, golf packagers and golf organization and tour administrators.

Every one of these avid golfers has played most, if not all of the Grand Strand’s nearly 100 public, private and semi-private golf courses, and each has cast their votes on which holes are their favorites.

The most recent version of this amazing 18-hole course was created in 2009 and plays to a par of 73 and a length of 7,151 yards from the back tees, and includes a variety of design styles from many of the top golf course architects in the country.

The masterpiece contains some of the best design features from Robert Trent Jones, Pete Dye, P.B. Dye, Tom Fazio, Dan Maples, Mike Strantz, Arnold Palmer, George Cobb, Roger Rulewich and Ken Tomlinson.

It was chosen by a panel assembled by The Sun News to choose the best 18 holes on more than 100 courses stretching the coastline from Calabash, N.C. to Georgetown.

In all, 162 holes on 59 courses received votes, with new and old design styles receiving similar recognition. Ten holes on the scorecard were designed before 1990 and eight in 1990 or after, and holes opened as early as 1948 and as recently as 2001.
